Mill River Trail

an emerging waterfront walking and biking path

A Path Emerges

The Mill River Trail is being constructed in segments and planned to run from Criscuolo Park to Blake Field along the western edge of Fair Haven. Previously overgrown or fenced off, these waterfront sections provide human-scale space amid industrial and office buildings.

CTNext funding supported new trail construction connecting Grand Ave towards Humphrey Street (1, to the right), moving fence lines in partnership with Industrial Flow Solutions, an industrial pump manufacturer new to New Haven.

The City’s matching section has been delayed by permitting and updated grant terms from another funder, but is expected in the summer of 2021. That new trail segment will connect from the back of District behind a highway off-ramp to State Street and under a DOT bridge to the Ralph Walker Skating Rink (3, to the right).
